In the heart of Birkenhead town The Pyramids Shopping Centre is large shopping mall with a food court. It is home to around 120 shops both high street names, including H&M, Next TJ Hughers and WHSmith along with and local independent traders. The site provides parking for over 1000 vehicles across two car parks and has the Central Train Station within easy walking distance.
The Challenge
The sites existing voice evacuation system linked to the Honeywell fire alarm required complete replacement due to obsolescence compliance. Also a complete system audit has to be undertaken along with considerable enhancements to the broadcast quality around the mall. The upgrade and improvements had to be delivered whilst maintaining the shopping centres normal operations and without any disruption to the public and site trading.
The Solution
Artisan competed a full review of the site along and considering the management requirements designed, installed and commissioned a new voice alarm system to comply with current British Standards employing Baldwin Boxall products. The system incorporated a central control rack located within the security control suite which provides full control and management of the system. The system also incorporated a distributed digital music and PA system to all public areas with the ability to control and select different music styles on demand.
